Student Research Internships

Shoals Marine Laboratory (SML) summer internships are specifically designed for undergraduate college students. Student interns work directly with mentors and SML scientists to conduct research experiments and projects. Internships provide invaluable career-related experience and help develop skills that will increase your marketability when it's time to apply to graduate school or pursue a full-time job.

SML provides room, board, and round-trip transportation to and from Appledore Island to all interns unless otherwise specified. SML offers internships in a wide variety of disciplines, see individual internship descriptions (3 categories) below for details. SML's research internship program evolves each year; some internships are contingent upon funding.
